“I WiSH for a world where all sloths are happy and free” just about sums up in one sentence Sam Trull´s dream along with her dedicated team at The Sloth Institute, of one day seeing all sloths living in freedom.

HOW MANY MORE MUST DIE?

This most treasured animal of Costa Rica faces some critical dangers everyday through the destruction of its habit and injuries from wildlife predators, dogs and even humans, intentional or otherwise. And because of their docility they are powerless to escape, with so many of them becoming yet another fatality or victim of cruelty, where sadly their lives are changed forever.

At the Sloth Institute their dedicated objective is to improve the health and well-being of sloths and most importantly, keep them off the endangered animals list, for all our children in the future to treasure and behold. The task is far from simple though and more research is desperately needed to understand the fundamental elements of their nature, much of which still remains unknown.

THE SLOTH´S NATURE COMPLEXITIES REMAINS A MYSTERY

This is where, we at Pura Vida Guide, have decided to step in and give our support to such a worthy cause. For the Sloth Institute to progress with their proposed research program, they need to build a laboratory. The new building will be named after their beloved sloth, Monster, whose fight for freedom has been well documented in Sam Trull´s diaries. Dedicated to her memory, The Monster´s WiSH Lab desperately needs your help for the promise of our future generations to wonder over these remarkable inhabitants of Costa Rica.
Very few studies of the sloths have ever been recorded in such depth, which Sam Trull believes is paramount for the continual existence of these beloved animals. Every aspect of this complex creature will be monitored and in time, shared amongst other scientists and organizations who too, desire for them to remain happy in the wild and living in freedom as nature intended.

BATTLING TO STAY IN THE WILD; MONSTER LIVING IN FREEDOM BEFORE HER TRAGIC DEMISE

The Sloth Institute is not a profit-making enterprise, nor is it a tourist attraction from where to obtain its funds. The main source of income which keeps their incredible work afloat, is purely down to the generosity from the public.

So far, the main structure of The WiSH Lab has been donated, but now a list of building finishes, instruments, tools, computers, microscopes, VHF collars and many more requirements are needed to complete the project. As they are half-way there, the end-sight is still out of reach (but do-able), with an estimated $20,700 in costs yet to be found. The main vital requirements your generous donation would help to supply are listed below;

Mscl lab supplies (test tubes, slides, etc): $300
