The Original Canopy Tour in Monteverde is located high up near the peek of Costa Rica’s Monteverde Cloud Forest. The Monteverded Cloud Forest location was the first location of many Original Canopy Tours to be created.

The Original Canopy Tour operations was founded in 1996 and was responsible for starting the trend of numerous canopy tours that are now available in Costa Rica. The Moneteverde tour is situated within a private reserve behind the Cloud Forest. The tour starts at the Cloud Forest Lodge with is just a short drive up the hill from downtown Santa Elena.

On the tour, you will be taken on a short guided hike through the Cloud Forest Reserve which takes you through old growth forests. The canopy tour takes you through the treetops surrounded by natural wildlife, including a variety of Costa Rica’s many bird species.

The tour ends with a most exhilarating rappel down what they call the ‘scary tree’ which tells you a little about the experience.

Tour Length: 2 to 2.5 hours depending upon group size.
Tours Start at: 7:30am, 10:30am, and 2:30pm.
Recommended Attire: Long pants or shorts, T-shirts, hiking shoes or sneakers, bug spray
