Magellan Inn Hotel

The Hotel Magellan Inn is a beautiful, spacious and charming exotic hotel in the Caribbean Coast region of Costa Rica. The Magellan Inn Hotel was originally built in 1993 by its founders JeanPaul Feuillatre, a Frenchman and his Canadian wife, Elizabeth Newton who sailed to many countries and after 25 years they fell in love with Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast and decided to throw their anchor and live ashore.

The Hotel Magellan Inn was built with love and attention to detail and comfort with a sense of European flare and taste combined with North American comfort.

Each building, room and terrace was built & nestled into the natural environment, to not disturb the natural beauty of the tropical jungle. The swimming pool and exotic gardens are set on an ancient 10,000 year old coral reef where professors and students from the Smithsonian Institute have come to study the fossils embedded in the coral.

Magellin Inn is located in a paradise setting near the peaceful Caribbean town of Cahuita. The hotel is situated just 200 meters from the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean sea; a short 3 minute walk. Guests are also only a 10 minute bicycle ride to the town of Cahuita where you can enjoy the town and its nightlife.

Magellan Inn’s exquisite grounds harbor some of the most amazing birds and animal life to be found in Costa Rica. At your bedrooms doorstep you will see agoutis, toucans, parrots, sloths, dart frogs, butterflies, hummingbirds and so much more. Bird watchers enjoy to sit in the gardens and watch the large variety of birds as they settle before dusk or wake in the early morning. This provides a unique opportunity for photographers, birdwatchers and nature lovers alike.

The Enchanted Gardens of Magellan Inn offer peace and tranquility, time for repose and observation of nature, as well as enjoying a relaxing massage, or just chilling out in a hammock for an afternoon siesta or to read a book.

Similar to an ambiance of the film “Out of Africa” our cocktail bar with its cozy rattan chairs and cushions, plays music slowly into the evening darkness ,as you sip your chilled Planteur’s Punch or frothy Pina Colada.

The “Table d’Hote” Guest Table
Offers gourmet meals from the original chef of “La Casa Creole” upon reservation.
