CARPEDIEM Restaurant and Lounge in Escazú is NOW CLOSED!

CARPEDIEM Restaurant and Lounge is the new Italian restaurant and Lounge bar that has replaced the previous landmark restaurant known as Cerutti Gourmet Italian Restaurante. Cerutti was established in 1996 and was known as one of the most expensive restaurants in Costa Rica.

In January 2012, the restaurant was re-invented, so to speak, to create the new Carpediem Restaurant and Lounge. The structure of the heritage building has not changed much, however the interior has been renovated to offer more light and a contemporary and stylish atmosphere.

Nicola Papangelo, who is a native of the Puglia region in Italy, offers a uniquely modern twist on traditional Italian cuisine. The menu at Carpediem is too good to even begin listing what we should recommend. An example of a recommended dish is the leg of lamb roasted with wine and mounted on Manchego cheese polenta with tarragon. The wine list is also extensive in true Italian fine dining fasion, so if you are looking for a restaurant with a stylish atmosphere, delicious cuisine and fine wine, Carpediem should be on your list of places to check out.

The ‘stuzzicheria’ is a selection of small appetizers that is sure to get you appetite stimulated. You might also want to try their champagne mojito!

Adjacent to the restaurant is Carpediem’s all new Lounge and VIP Area that has been designed in a very modern and contemporary feel that is perfect for private and special events, offering its own bar, bathroom and parking access.

The re-invention of Carpediem offers diners a more modern space, a beautiful lounge environment and even half-off-appetizers happy hour, while keeping the feeling of a fine dining Italian restaurant.
