Canopy Adventure ‘Volcan Barva’ is located 1/2 and hour from San José on an amazing and majestic 1700 acre piece of land in San José de la Montana at the foot of the Barva Volcano, which is the largest volcanic mass in Central America. Of the 1700 acres, 700 have been set aside by the family for conservation purposes. A large portion of this area is a natural cloud forest, which is so very important for the watershed of San José.

“Canopy Adventure” is family owned and operated. The Canopy Tour takes you trekking and zip lining through the natural cloud forest and over ravines and waterfalls. It is truly an amazing and exhilarating experience that shows off Costa Rica’s natural beauty to fullest.

The canopy tour has 13 platforms with 8 cables suspended around massive oak trees, typical to old growth forests. The length of each zip line varies from 60 to 600 feet. The majority of the zip lines take you through the canopy tops with a few that literally take your breath away as you fly over waterfalls.

If you are perhaps a little terrified of heights, they also offer an ‘Adventure Park’ with some fantastic nature trails to hike as well as a newly developed mountain biking park.
