Costa Rica Electricity Costs to Go Up in July

The announcement of an increase to Costa Rica´s electricity was made on Tuesday by the Public Services Regulatory Authority
Bar a decrease for the residents in Los Santos in Southern San José, all households will see their energy bills go up in July, with customers of ICE bearing the brunt, with a percentage rise of 5.49%.

ARESEP reasoned that because the providers had to use bunker and diesel powered plants during the past quarter to cover the increase of energy demand of 6.6 percent, the higher rates were necessary.
